Harvest Celebration
Autumn is in the air, the smell of wood burning fire makes me want to wrap myself in a warm blanket and snuggle by the fire. I have been working the past few weeks on decorations, planning, and getting things ready for our Church Harvest Celebration for the children at church. What will My Country Kitchen whip up for them? That's still in the planning process...at the moment. Ideas are brainstorming and I can't wait to see what sweet treats I turn out. I will post pictures as soon as I make my goodies. That will be at least three weeks away because we are having our Harvest Celebration on the last Friday in October....can't wait....:)

As the week comes to a close, I am getting read for the weekend. My annual Church Homecoming got kicked off last night with revival starting at the Church. On my menu there is going to be two cheesecakes, Caribbean cheesecake and peppermint cheesecake. I am also making two appetizers, BBQ Meatballs and a smoky cheese ball. The desserts doesn't end with cheesecakes, at request, I am making my chocolate torte cake again. It was a big hit last year; not a crumb left. I will post pics over the weekend on here or my face book page.
I may also make a chocolate cream pie if time and space allow for them. My biggest task is transporting refrigerated items....

Dinner was short and sweet tonight. I took the left over pot roast from the crockpot, added some brown mushrooms also known as baby bella's or crimini mushrooms and shredded cabage. I let that cook about 20 mins in the broth, added back the veggies (carrots, potatoes, onion) and shredded the meat and wamred some rolls....hearty :).
Now, I'm just working on recipes for the upcoming church homecoming.

Mexican tonight...I found a new website with some awesome Mexican recipes. However, our local grocery story has a very small selection for Mexican ingredients. So I took what I could find tweak the recipe slightly and it turned out delicious...
I made a white-cheese sauce, with a tomato salsa to dip corn tortilla chips in, then I made chicken quesadillas with carmelized onions on mine. Then don't forget the spanish rice with red kidney beans. I must say, I was suprised at those flavors. Topping off the quesadillas with cilantro, salsa, and sour cream with adobe sauce in it, I found myself enjoying Mexican favorites from My Country Kitchen.

Bake Sale Results
Genesis 41: 30
And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;
I know it's been a while since my last post but I've been busy with lots of other things consuming my mind and time. I did not get the results I was hoping for with my bake sale, however, I did make some money for what few items sold. I was disappointed with my bake sale results but I am proud of myself for finishing something that I started. I did it with to the best of my abilities and with what resources and finaces I had available at the given time.
As promised the money made from the bake sale was donated to the American Red Cross for the Tornado victims of Joplin, MO.
Hopefully, I can over the next few days get caught up on posting. I prefer not to sit here and post a big post, jump around in subjects, so I will post as time allows me to post on the things I choose to share with the www.
